A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BRIDAL SALON by VARA FORE

A typical weekend for Sophia’s can be very hectic. Of course this is our busiest time of the year, so we try to fit in as many brides as possible throughout the day.

When a bride walks in, we usually get all of their information up front; when’s your wedding, the location of your wedding, do you have a certain style you’re looking for, did you bring/find any dresses you like online or somewhere else, is this your first store/have you tried on any yet.

After they give us all of that information, the fun part begins. We typically start with three dresses, and then work from there. Some find “the one” within those first three and others find it after the eight one. We will work hard to find “the” dress, so don’t worry about time. We usually give our brides an hour and a half to try on dress (and if you go over that’s not a problem).

Hoping the bride finds her dress, we then like to ask about the bridal party. We also sell bridesmaid’s dress, mother-of-the bride dresses, flower girls, and tux rentals. We want you to be able to get everything all in one location so it’s less stress for you to find different attire everywhere else. If a bride has colors, materials, and cuts of bridesmaid’s dresses, we then can help her pick some styles out so her bridesmaids can come in and try them on as well as get fitted.

Overall, the experience can be very enjoyable and hopefully not stressful. Yes, we understand it’s one of the “biggest” decisions you’ll make when planning your wedding, so we want to be there guiding you in making the “biggest” decision the “best” decision.
Some bridal tips:

Wedding gowns: we recommend you order 6-8 months before your wedding. This gives you time for fitting, alterations, and any last minute details.

Bridesmaids: we recommend you order 2-3 months as well; fitting and alterations.

Groomsmen: we recommend you order 2-3 months as well; fitting, alterations, and any last minute details. Also, the groom typically matches the bride and the groomsmen match the bridesmaids.

Hopefully these little tips will help you when you’re out looking for your bridal party attire as well as your attire.
